[2025-09-12] The input page is working now. I'll be gussying up input and presentation. Things even look decent on mobiles' in
landscape presentation. Critiques and suggestions overall would be appreciated...
[2025-09-03] The Python computational engine output looks almost identical to the original C code output. While updating the input page for HTML5
compatibility, the changes in HTML in the last 20 years or so have caused quite a need for tech updates. Will probably be a few days there. Things may change
before your eyes!
[2025-09-02] I have what looks like a decent start on a production version. If you spot anything out of whack, PLEASE let me know!!
[2025-08-15] I'm playing with a python backend and some results will be displayed. Trust nothing, it's all crazy.
The backend for the HPV Drivetrain Analyzer ran on a server that I maintained in my home network. It was written in C on Windows
and the .exe binary wouldn't run on the website's servers.
Some years ago a lightning strike during an electrical storm caused significant damage to that server that took out the underpinnings of the program. I learned
a valuable though painful lesson about keeping my source files protected offsite.
I have been working on a website-only version coded in Python, translated from my program in C (with a little AI help, a truly amazing experience) that did not require
a backend in my home network. I was lucky enough to find the original C code while rooting through the rubble of my server. Some history: This project originally ran at soulbikes.com from about 2000 and moved to cycletech.us a few years later. The lightning
event happened after that move.
Due to identity confusion with a booming Soul E-Bikes business (soulebikes.com) on the west coast, I transferred the soulbikes.com domain to them as
it was largely dormant, just a forward for email and cycletech.us, now to soulebikes.com.
They build some nice bikes, check them out!
